Good news coverage!

To those that have been contributing and using The Buk, I’m pleased to say that it has received good news coverage of late, appearing in the Baptist Times on June 18th and also The Baptist Union’s ‘e-news sweep’. That alone generated over 250 unique visitors in a single day – not bad for this little old site!

It is due to appear in the EMBA news supplement and other related publications. So please keep contributing, your images are being seen and used!

After a while away concentrating on my college work, I’ve now updated the site with all the new additions I’ve received. Many thanks for all the contributions, please keep them coming. The aim is an image for every verse in the Bible!

First chapter of 2010

Well 2010 is now underway and it will be a big year for The Buk as later in the year Iwill have significant time to develop it further. Ahead of that I hope that further contributions will make this online illuminated Bible grow further. A further 29 pages have been added today with 26 down to a great effort by Brian Walbey, so many thanks to him.

What I want to ask people already involved is for their thoughts about how to develop it further. Perhaps there is something that you think could work better or have a new idea to share.

It is hoped this Bible can be a great resource and I need your help in making it happen.

65 new pages go live!

I’ve just made a major update to the site, with 65 new pages going live. There are some great reflections, humour and emotion in what has been posted. Particular thanks go to Brian Walbey and Brian Johnson (AKA Scottish Camera) for not only great images, but some stunning verses to go with them.

The buk went past the 200 image mark recently which is great news. There are now two pages worth of photos that need a verse or comment, so if you don’t fancy uploading a photo, have a look at the ones in the queue and see if you get any inspiration! As this Bible develops I’m reflecting on the best ways the community can contribute. I’m very mindful that it takes time and effort to do, so I want to suggest a variety of ways people can contribute easily, linking word and image.

One such way is to post images from big church events like weddings, baptisms, dedications, christenings and the like. Not only do most people have lots of images to hand, but also a link to a Bible verse. Simply think what the readings were on the day and pick a verse. I know many of you (including myself) will have had familier verses like ’Love is patient, love is kind’ read at their wedding and I think it would be quite special if we had a number of images associated with a single verse.
